March 11, Marietta, GA

This past weekend, 24 of us (including one spectator and one coach) headed to Atlanta to kick off our Spring season. Our first game was against Life University. We lost 68-23 (or something close to that). Lessons learned? Our fitness is lacking, and the three weeks we have until playoffs will be helpful in polishing our offense and defense. Breaking down the game by half, the outcome does show some sign of improvement. Scoring in the first half was 40-3, and for the second half, 28-20. We'll just say we had to knock the rust off in the first half.

The second game we played the Atlanta Renegades, which happens to be the team we meet in the first round of the playoffs. Everyone seemed a bit more fired up on our second day, even though we were all tired and beat up and everyone had been out the night before. We started strong and kept it up for the most part, winning 41-19 (or close to that). Our lacking fitness showed yet again, as 2 of their trys were scored due to "pure laziness" (quoted from Jason Payne, and echoed by multiple people on the sidelines) after penalties. A hopeful sign for the team when we head down to play them again in 3 weeks.
