Thanks to Isaac Johnson for the match summaries. Thanks to Rob Wagner for the photographs. I highly recommend viewing them as a slide show. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the show. Then order some keepsake photos for yourself, your squeeze, or family members.

April 29, Eagan, MN

GAME RESULTS
Saturday
44 Metropolis A
12 Eastside Banshees

10 Metropolis B
20 Milwaukee Black & Blue

This past Saturday, both Metropolis sides braved a rainy, windy, and cold afternoon to play some rugby.

The A side played against the Banshees at their field in Eagan. The kickoff temperature was 46 degrees and the rain was coming in sideways. Needless to say, the ball was slippery, as was the footing, which meant the game was on the forwards to shoulder most of the load. Thanks to controlled mauls, aggressive rucking, and some great linked runs highlighted with pop passes from the ground and mid-tackle, Metropolis rolled to a 44-12 win.

Thanks to Rob Wagner, who braved the elements with a plastic Target bag wrapped around his camera, for taking these photos.

The B side also ventured out into the weather to battle the Milwaukee Black and Blue. Apparently the wind wasn't as bad, but mud was happy to take its place as a hinderance to technical play. Although a bit short-handed (with only 2 subs on the bench), the B side was ahead at the half, and the score was knotted at 10 each with 7 minutes left to play. Unfortunately a few well-placed kicks behind the backline gave the Black and Blue 10 more points before the end of the game, giving them a 20-10 victory over our B side.

My apologies to the B side that I can't provide a longer match report for their game - these are the details I picked up from conversations at the bar after the game. If someone would like to write up a better report, I'd be happy to put it out to the news list.

Next weekend we have Omaha at home - hopefully they don't bring more rain with them.
